lk ludwig and me

this was our teacher, she holds a special place in my heart. she was my very first teacher at artfest 5 years ago. we did a lovely journal back then, and of course lk was so kind and generous....she actually brought 30 vintage book covers 1 for each student, old pages, and told us to use our things, don't leave them locked in a drawer, and if we did she promised new things would make it into our lives.... well this weekend was packed with her generosity and knowledge. it was a divine weekend.

peeking inside my journal

after 3 days of amazing techniques i assembled my journal, which was not our requirement. we learning several techniques, some of which i had done, and most which i had never done....like the photo on the left, self portrait printed on tissue with ink jet .....on the right, the Dalia lama cut out of stencil, and spray painted..... all our techniques were put in our special journal or put in portfolio style note book.

if you ever get a chance to take this stencil class, don't miss out on it...it is the coolest technique ever. ever since i saw judi wise's stencils i want to learn this technique..... see lk's true vision, she has details on the how to's

judi working away, her colors were tangerines, red, orange.....she helped inspire me to do colors i don't normally use. i managed to paint some warm colors, and loved those pages.

darcy busy at work. i had darcy in a class about 7 years ago at suzi fines old store. and here we were again, sitting next to each other again.

we had many demos outside by lk...... she looked so cute that day, she had a lovely necklace that was a birdcage made by catherine witherall of Happydayheart.

this one of my favorite exercises we did, consulting the oracle and writing a poem... i could never have written this poem just sitting there.

his is a page from one of lk's journals featured in her book "true visions", lk helped us write these amazing poems....and the background, cut outs from magazines altered with tissue and paint. oh it was so much fun. we took our words from the oracle, a special book we could consult if our creative parts were blocked up. i plan on having a oracle in my house.

summer collection

summer seems to be slipping thru my fingers, my busy fingers...getting ready for my fall shows....i am working hard to keep up with it all...that is why i have not blogged, i am sure you have all given up on me... but i am trying to be back.... with 2 full time jobs it certainly has been a challenge... but i am treating myself this weekend to carol parks studio, taking a wonderful journal class with lk ludwig. i will be learning how to do a photographic stencils that we will spray paint. i first saw judy wise do this , you can ck her blog and see how wonderful her stencil work is....so will let you see what happens at that class meeting..yahoo)
