anahata style

i was cleaning out my art supplies, and ran across my anahata collages i made last year after artfest. i had not taken her class, but had a student of hers in my dorm class, and she brought the energy of anahata with her and we were able to do this. this year i have the very lgreat fortune to land her as a teacher at artfest.

donna, who is a wonderful card designer, and does reverse collage on plates, has the most wonderful art studio. these pictures do no justice, you could seriously go in her studio and never come out...and she has cute little gidget to keep her company...

kate gave some great tips on stamping. she has the majority of stamps she uses unmounted. she lays the rubber face up on a pad of paper and lays the paper on the rubber after inking her rubber. only the stamps she uses over and over does she mount with wood, or uses the acrylic block. of course i bought a bunch of stamps (like i needed more), she had stunning new designs. see them on www.invokearts.com

kate, owner of blackbird studios had some wonderful new stamps...she is always a hit at the stamp conventions. she will be selling this year at artfest, she is bring her daughter for the first time and is very excited to share the artfest adventure with her. it is my dream that my daughter will someday attend with me, and also teach there.

san francisco, here i come

it was a fast drive....l.a. to s.f. in 6 hours. highway 5. my mini-cooper loves the highway... i drove myself, had the tomtom chole with me. chole didn't fail me, and drove me right thou the city to ashley's front door. last trip to san francisco i was so lost i vowed i would get a navigational system....my dear hubby got me one for christmas, and it is worth it's weight in gold. no stress...

old friends meet in san francisco

i treated myself to the best birthday gift i could ever have.... driving up to be with ashley, and her best friend alexis, and gail my dear friend who moved to seattle, who also celebrated her birthday on leap year, along with her sister diane. we had so much fun squishing into my mini cooper, seeing the sights of san francisco. we got to see a wonderful musical comedy, beach blanket babyolon, art exhibit anne lebowitz, and the wonderful scrap. it was a wonderful weekend of laughter,sun, fun,

scrap.... san francisco... if you haven't been there you need to go next time your in the bay area. it is the ultimate in recycled craft/art supplies you will find. when business's have supplies they no longer want, they donate to this warehouse. the warehouse organizes junk, and you find treasures for very very low prices.... my bag was packed with old keys, glycine envelops, fabric, and it came to 6.00. my daughter got 6 bags full of art supplies for her preschool class for 30.00. very very fun adventure....i want one of these in l.a.

yarn curtain.... individual balls of yarn strung.... spectacular

this was the most beautiful curtain made of yarn balls.... it truly was an anthropolie piece. the german clerk came up with the idea, and she had a designed help her excute the masterpiece. if i had access to the yarn, i would be making it.

alameda flea market ...san francisco

there were many vintage delights at the alameda flea market...these little treats where painted treasures from 1910...many where birds, flags, and state flowers....the owner of these encased them in silver settings, i wanted to buy them all... reading ninas blog today, ornamental, she is using wonderful little dollies in her jewelry....if she needs new dollies she will have to visit this flea market, she will find many little girls and animals too...

Indian fusion, with Mexican and Italian.....the best Indian food i have ever had. the owner of this restaurant from India was enlightened, his passion and love for food turned his countries cuisine into something i did not expect. when he told us we would be licking our plate i thought he was insane....but he knew we would...and he caught my daughter licking her plate. as people left the restaurant, they walked back in and asked for a copy of the menu....everyone had blissful look when they left.

enchilada's, filled with jerk chicken, and Indian sauce......the owner of avitars said we would lick our plate...this was ashleys dish, and she did lick the plate....and he said, i caught you.....

best mexican food this side of the rio grande, mill valley california, don't miss it if you cross the bridge

sunday in mill valley we had dinner at the best taco place i have ever been at. located in mill valley california, this tiny little joint was filled with charm, religious artifacts, chandeliers, and as i mentioned... some of the best mexican food i've ever had. a mexican street hamburger, a giant chili, a cornmeal cake....and the most fun, making your own salsa mixtures.....you will notice on the chair railing bottles of hot sauce from all over the world.....it was crazy good
