collage transfer.....see what we did...

collage transfer party

every christmas i host a christmas craft party for my friends. this year the project was a collage canvas. everyone brought a special photo, and we collaged the canvas, then added a transferred photo with gel medium, and heat.....the paper was removed, and magically the photo appears. our party was early this year, but will give us all time to do family photos for gifts....thanks for coming girls, vonnie, irene, diane, donna

donna cleaning transfer

with the heat transfer it takes alot of cleaning of paper off the photo.

this is donna, she is master collage artist, who specializes in collage on glass, which is called reversed collage. we were so happy she attended the holiday craft party, as she gave us some of her expert tips when we needed advice...thanks donna...

izzy the princess

this is izzy, vonnie's first grandbaby...

vonnie, made the best collage of izzy, her first granddaugther. fitting izzy had a special crown...she is the princess of grand babys...she made this for her christmas gift...what a treasure.

irene's mom

irene did her photo transfer on canvas of her mom's wedding day..., she has special plans for all her family's wedding photos...
irene, also did collage of her father. she found the perfect postcard background, and the transfer came out without a hitch... very handsome daddy.

this was irene's grandfather and grandmother's wedding photo...it was a color transfer on canvas, i loved it...

dianes grandma, and mom

diane chose an amazing photo of her grandma and mother....this was her first time doing the photo collage and it came out so good, but my camera doesn't do any justice. we had to rush diane home that day, and we needed more work on removing the paper off the canvas....i told diane next time she's spending the nite... we all a great time...she will be going to artfest for the first time next year... we can't wait

my dad, mary, and sister

I've been thinking

ambatali

this is Molly, she owns this wonderful fabric store in mill valley...magic happens here, she offers classes of all kinds, sewing, knitting, altered book classes, felting classes....and has the coolest vintage fabrics and artifacts....she has hosted Ashley's first show featuring her line of felted dresses, purses and baby clothes.

mission statement

Ashley says, I am exploring clothes as a "second skin" that is an integral part of our human makeup. As sheep have wool to insulate and protect, I see our clothes as very similar; wearing them for warmth and protection against weather, but also as an outer extension or our inner self. I believe we creatively express ourselves through the garments we wear. Clothing is something we put on and take off to create different identities and function in daily life; therefore it is part of us, something we should embrace. in that light it becomes important to consider what clothes we choose to put on our bodies. Are we wearing that are made from synthetic fibers and force children to work in sweatshops or are we wearing clothes that support our environment and cultures around the world? these garments are created using 100% organic, predator friendly plant dyed wool with 100% love, integrity and consciousness and are an ode to our "second skin". may we feel love, joy, and beauty when we wear them.

molly, thank you for being such a wonderful friend to ashley, she loves you....

gabrielle, event fairy

gabrielle came to ashley 's first show, and was the little fairy that helped hang the dresses, stitch the labels on the dresses, and magically arrange all the food to look like martha had just been there. thanks gabrielle, you a true wonder in arranging parties...you need to switch careers....if anyone could make roberta's cheesecake, she could...

childrens dresses

i love these wonderful little felted childrens clothes...

ashleys felting on lace, her speciality

the dresses were all hung from a hanger with a white cloth back drop...

felted animal throw

the animal throw was one of the pieces Ashley felted while in Germany, at the textile school while in college, it is all sheep's wool felted into a throw....and the pillows.....to cute

blanket

this was one of my favorite pieces

one of ashley's friends gave her this lace piece, she felted this dress late into the morning of the show.....burning the morning lite, i don't know how she managed to be standing a smiling here....

video of ashley felting pink throw

the coolest video was showing on the brick wall of ambatali, just outside of the shop. there was a tiny sitting area outside with drinks and coffee. a video of Ashley felting gave people an idea of the felting process.

you didnt forget your cheesecake

this is roberta, the little cheesecake fairy.....ashley warned me about her cheesecake, that it was the best she'd ever had.....yes she was right. turns out Roberta has alot of water for chocolate magic going for her. she claims she gives her receipt to friends, and it never comes out like hers.....that is were the magic comes in, love and family history. Roberta brought many added accessories from her home to make this party special, and she has such a sweet husband, thank you for your support...

celebrating

ashley and molly take moment to have a toast to their success.

alteration

ashley needed her dress shortened, bridget trimmed the felt dress ashley made....
